Why do we always hear about asuu strike in Nigerian universities, and can't they just come to an agreement with the government already?

Honestly, it feels like asuu strikes are never-ending in Nigeria. From what I've seen, the main problem is that the government and ASUU just can't seem to trust each other or keep promises. Like, the government agrees to stuff, like better funding and paying up teachers' allowances, but then they stall or just don't do it. I remember in 2022 when my cousin couldn't graduate because of one long strike, and she was so annoyed.

It just keeps happening because all these agreements since 2009 are still not fully honored, and each time the teachers try to get what they're owed, the only way they seem to get the government's attention is by going on strike. It's super frustrating because students end up losing out and wasting time. If the government actually kept to what they promised and ASUU was sure they'd get paid and schools would get better funding, I'm sure these strikes wouldn't happen this much. But until that changes, we'll probably keep hearing about asuu strikes every other year. Super annoying for everyone involved! Stay strong if you're dealing with it right now.
