I've read that Israel's been ramping up attacks on Iranian military targets, especially with all the chaos after the US bombed some Iranian sites too. Imagine being the top guy and watching missiles fly towards your country!

So yeah, picking replacements makes sense if he thinks commanders could actually die soon. And hiding in a bunker? That says he's taking the threat really seriously. I guess when your country is under attack and everyone knows where you live, you'd want some extra protection too! Plus, if something happens to him, having backup leaders keeps the government from falling apart.
