Honestly, Tinubu jumped in fast with emergency rule in Rivers State because stuff was getting out of hand. I've seen a lot of politicians talk big, but when Fubara, who's the governor (well, suspended), thanked Tinubu for saving the state from what he called "looming anarchy," you could tell there was real chaos. The political crisis was getting kinda crazy and both the government and legislature seemed super unstable.
From what I've read, some folks say if Tinubu hadn't stepped in, Rivers might have just turned into a mess. Fubara even mentioned in public that Tinubu's move actually stopped things from getting worse, and there were even protests that didn't help much. But not everyone agrees with setting up emergency rule so quickly, since it feels kinda harsh and can basically sideline democracy. Personally, I kinda wish our leaders could settle their beef without needing emergency action, but at least things aren't burning, right?
So, it seems like Tinubu did it to stop everything from exploding while they figure out peace and reconciliation, but it left some people worried about what this means for our actual democracy. Who knows, maybe peace talks will work and the whole emergency thing was just a quick fix.
