Honestly, I’ve noticed a lot of my friends talking about how canada immigration is getting tougher on temporary residents lately. From what I’ve read, the main reason is that there are just way too many people coming in as students and workers, and it’s really putting pressure on housing and stuff like that. The government is realizing that if they keep letting so many temporary residents in, it gets harder for people already here to find affordable places to live.

I remember when my cousin tried for a study permit last year, everything took way longer than before, and there were way more rules. Now they’re saying, by 2026, only 5% of people in Canada can be temporary residents. That’s wild because a lot of people get their start as students or workers before applying for permanent residency, you know? In my opinion, this is definitely going to make it harder for new people, but honestly, things were getting kind of out of control with crowded schools and expensive apartments. It kinda sucks for people from outside, but I get why they think it’s necessary to cool things down for a while.
