Hey, I know change can be scary, especially when you're just about to dive into the NYSC right after school, right? But from what they've been saying, the reform is actually aimed at making things better for graduates.

Positives:

  • Job Skills: They're looking to make the program more skill-focused, so hopefully, by the end of it, you’d walk away with real skills that employers want.
  • Better Fit: Placements might be more tailored to what you've studied, so if you're an IT geek, you won't suddenly find yourself trying to teach art to a bunch of kids! 🚀

Side note, in a chat with an older cousin who went through NYSC, he felt his role wasn't aligned with his studies, so if they're fixing that, it could be a huge win.

Challenges: There's always that fear of more strict rules or longer registrations, which could be irritating at first. But overall, it seems mostly about giving more value rather than just hassle.

So, keep your fingers crossed 🤞and let's hope it makes things smoother for everyone jumping in after you. It's kind of like getting the iOS update – sometimes a bit of a bumpy ride at first, but hopefully worth it in the long run!
