It's honestly kinda wild how much Hansi Flick seems to rate Perisic. I think it's not just about him liking Perisic as a player, it's more because Flick knows exactly what he's getting. After coaching Perisic at Bayern Munich, he saw first hand that Perisic can handle big games, different roles on the field, and that he always gives everything. Reinventing a squad like Barcelona's, which is in this weird transition with a bunch of young players mixed with veterans, Flick probably wants someone stable who can play multiple positions without drama. Also, Perisic comes at a sweet price since he's on a free and his salary is pretty chill for a club like Barça.
I can imagine Flick thinking, "Look, I need a guy who’s gonna set the work rate for everyone else and won’t complain if he’s moved around from winger to wingback to even up front." After Perisic’s amazing stats last season at PSV (16 goals and 11 assists), I’m not shocked that Flick sees him as that hard-working, low-risk type who could really help hold things together. That's how I see it, anyway.
