This is one that gets people fired up! I’ve heard older relatives say Justice Uwais should get more credit, even if his biggest ideas weren’t fully used. From how I see it, being called a reformer isn’t always about getting every single plan passed. Uwais had guts to call out the system and dream up changes that made powerful people uncomfortable, especially suggesting the judiciary run electoral appointments. That’s a pretty extreme shakeup for Nigeria, honestly.
Even though politicians blocked some top ideas, his work kind of started a big national conversation, which wasn’t happening before. I guess you could say he made it possible for others to push for change, or at least believe it could happen. To me, sometimes the loudest voices that force people to think, even if nothing changes right away, are the real reformers. Maybe Uwais didn’t see all his ideas come to life, but he got everyone talking, and that’s no small thing in Nigerian politics! That’s why I think he fully deserves the “reformer” label.
