Why is Preakness 2025 being called the last one at Pimlico in its current state? Is something happening to the racetrack or is the tradition changing?

Honestly, it’s weird thinking about how Preakness 2025 is supposed to be the last time they run it at Pimlico before stuff changes. What’s happening is, Pimlico Race Course is gonna get a major renovation after this year. I’ve watched some races with my family there and people always talk about how old and kinda run-down the place seems compared to places like Churchill Downs. It’s almost like the track’s got legendary status but it’s old-school and, not gonna lie, a bit falling apart. So after 2025, they're basically knocking down a lot of it and rebuilding so it’s more modern and better for the big crowds and the horses.

I get why some people are bummed out. It’s got so much history and it’s where the Preakness has always been, so it feels like saying goodbye to an old friend, you know? But, in my opinion, it’s probably time. The place can't stay frozen in time if it’s gonna survive. So 2025’s race is special because it’s the end of an era for racing at the Pimlico we all know.
