So, the funniest thing is seeing fans jumping up and down after a loss, right? But that’s exactly what went down with Newcastle fans. I remember watching some clips on social and seeing everyone hugging, cheering, and some folks almost in tears even though Newcastle lost 1-0 to Everton. The thing is, despite the loss, Newcastle still got into the Champions League because of a different match result (Manchester United beat Aston Villa), which pushed Newcastle up on goal difference.
That sort of thing feels special, honestly. I think the fans were just straight-up proud after what felt like a crazy season—like, they even brought home their first domestic trophy in decades! Most people were realistic though, chatting about how they need better players to make the most of next season, but the main vibe in the moment was just pure, goofy happiness. Sometimes the result on the pitch doesn’t even matter as much as what it means for the club and everyone supporting it. That’s why the celebration was so extra—football is just that unpredictable, man.
