You know, I always thought it would be easier if everyone just celebrated stuff on the same days, but after reading about how Western Australia wanted to align its public holidays with the east coast and people were arguing about it, I'm not so sure. On one side, if all countries or states had democracy day public holiday on the same date, it could help businesses and organizations keep track of holidays more easily, and things like international news would be super coordinated. But from what I've seen, not everyone is on board because each place has its own history and reasons.

Some business owners actually hate the idea because it messes with their schedules and can cost them money. Others love it because, if you’ve got family or work in more than one state or country, at least you’re all off at the same time. I think it kind of depends on what matters more—making things uniform, or keeping local traditions. Personally, I like the idea of sharing a celebration with the whole world, but if it means losing the unique reason why Nigeria celebrates June 12, then I’d say keep it different. What do you think?
