From what I've seen, technically, they're not forced by law to switch parties, but it's kinda like peer pressure in school. When the governor defects, there's this huge expectation that his appointees and allies will follow. If you stay behind, you might lose your job, your influence, or just feel left out. It's like your whole squad suddenly decides to support a different football team, and you have to decide if you're in or out.

In the latest case in Akwa Ibom, the governor even told people straight up—if you're not willing to move to APC, you should quit. So yeah, some people like the commissioner actually resigned instead of switching. But some lawmakers went along, maybe 'cause they want to keep their seats or just don't want drama. In my experience, most people do what's best for their career, but a few stick to their beliefs no matter what. It says a lot about loyalty and what matters more—your position or your principles. It's a tough spot to be in, honestly.
