Honestly, I get both sides but I'm leaning towards the workers here. If your company is making a lot more money, but you haven't seen a raise, a bonus, or even your basic pension payments in over a year, you’d be mad too. The unions aren't just making these demands for the fun of it; they're literally asking for stuff that's supposed to be standard, like getting paid what you’re owed, getting promoted when you work hard, and getting medical care so you don't die on the job.
I once saw my dad struggle with late pay at his old job, and it messes with every part of your life, not just your mood at work. Some people online say the unions are being greedy or that they just want to cause trouble, but if the demands are about justice and legal entitlements, that's not greedy—it's just fair. Plus, the workers held off striking before, hoping management would come through, but nothing changed.
So if they’re doing a strike now, it means they're out of options. A strike hurts everyone, for sure. But I think the real issue is the company not listening until it's a full crisis. Seems like if AEDC handled things fairly, we wouldn't even be talking about a blackout.
