Honestly, I used to think getting a Netflix subscription would solve everything money-wise because everyone says streaming is cheaper than cable. But if you're anything like my friends and me, it's not that simple. Sure, the Standard with Ads plan starts at $7.99 a month, which is way less than your typical cable bill. But most people (including me) get more than just Netflix. You end up stacking subscriptions – like Disney+, Hulu, and all that – and suddenly it adds up fast, sometimes even more than cable! Also, if you want the Premium plan with 4K and extra accounts, that's $24.99 a month already.
The real thing I've found is that it's about what you actually watch. If you only care about a couple of shows, yeah, ditching cable and going Netflix-only might save you cash. But it's super easy to fall into the trap of "just one more app." My parents tried it for a year, and by the end, they were paying for five services and complaining it felt the same as before, just less live news. So I don't buy the idea that Netflix alone automatically saves you money. You've gotta keep track of what you really use. Anyone else feel the same way?
