Yeah, so that whole Pedro Pascal stopping Joaquin Phoenix from waving thing on the Cannes red carpet totally took over social media. I watched the clip like five times because, honestly, it was pretty weird. Pedro literally pulls Joaquin’s hand down mid-wave and says something nobody can hear, and Joaquin just kind of looks embarrassed and awkward. People online are going wild guessing why he did it – some said maybe he was worried Joaquin’s wave could look like that old “bad” salute in photos, especially since Cannes gets a ton of press. Others think maybe Pedro was just joking or being protective, since stuff gets misinterpreted all the time. I could totally see Pedro trying to help out, but if I was Joaquin, I’d be so confused. It’s one of those moments where you wish there was audio, you know? Either way, it kind of made everyone laugh, which honestly, we need more of these days—celebrities being just as awkward as the rest of us.
