Do people actually catch a lot of fish at the Sabine River, or are there other places in Texas or Louisiana that are better if you just want to fish for fun?

If I'm being real, the Sabine River probably isn't the spot if you just want to go out and catch a ton of huge fish for fun. People keep talking about it because of these major tournaments, but what makes it interesting for pros is kinda different from what casual fishers want. On tournament days, you see the pros grinding just to get five solid bites, and they're not always pulling in those eight-pound monsters like you see at other Texas lakes.

But don't get me wrong; it's got a cool vibe. It's challenging, there's loads of shallow, sketchy water, and you never know what you're gonna hook next. But if I just wanted to have a chill day, catch a bunch of bass, and not work too hard, I'd probably pick somewhere like Sam Rayburn Reservoir or Toledo Bend, which aren't that far away. Those lakes are famous for both huge bass and numbers.

The Sabine is more for the challenge or if you're into watching or competing in tournaments. For a casual day out, I'd go somewhere with more fish per cast, honestly.
