I get that everyone thinks Mortal Kombat is just blood and guts, but honestly, there’s a lot more going on. Sure, people love the violence and Fatalities — heck, even my friends only play to see the craziest finishing move. But if you pay attention, there’s actually a super deep story and a bunch of cool features that most people don’t really talk about.

Like, the newer games have these wild story modes that are almost like watching a movie. You find out why the characters fight, and the story actually has twists. I remember getting sucked into the MKX story mode way more than I expected. There’s also stuff like unlockable content, character profiles, and in the new Legacy Kollection coming soon, you can check out behind-the-scenes stuff and interviews with the creators. That kind of thing makes it more than just a fighting game.

So yeah, Mortal Kombat has way more to offer than just the gore. If people would look past the blood for one second, they’d see there’s actually a lot of depth. I say try out the story mode if you want to see what you’re missing.
