Okay, so here’s the real talk: right now, the nelfund april upkeep disbursement is only for students in public universities, colleges, and similar government-owned schools. I used to think if you’re paying crazy amounts in private universities, you’d never need a loan, but that’s actually not true. I know a guy at a private school who hustles harder than some public school folks just to pay fees.
There’s talk now about eventually letting private university students in on the NELFUND loan game, but it’ll probably take a couple of years before any money drops for them. If you’re at a private school and hoping for that April disbursement, you’re gonna have to wait. But a lot of people, including some big professors, are really pushing for it to change, so fingers crossed, maybe private students will get upkeep disbursement too. For now, it’s just public schools cashing in. Honestly, I hope they fix it soon because all students deserve that kind of support, not just those at government universities.
