I keep seeing threads saying Hugo Ekitike is overrated and honestly, I get where people are coming from. Like, yeah, he's quick, tall, and scores goals, but he also misses a ton. The stats say he underperformed his expected goals, which usually means your finishing needs work. I think he's super exciting because he gets himself into chances all the time, but you can't ignore the fact he's not super reliable in front of goal yet.

But for teams like Liverpool or Chelsea, who create a lot of scoring chances, a dude who finds space like Ekitike could be perfect. He’s not like a classic #9 – he likes drifting wide and running at defenders, which is actually exactly what those teams love. If he improves his finishing, he could be one of the top strikers in Europe. Right now, is he overrated? Probably a bit, but only because people expect him to be the next Mbappe overnight.
