So, the IBM Simon was actually super cool for its time, like the first real smartphone ever, but it just didn’t take off. I remember reading that it cost a ton, like over $2,100 in today’s money, which is crazy for a phone. On top of that, its battery life sucked, barely lasting an hour, which would be such a pain if you’re using it for business. People probably couldn't justify spending that much money on something that couldn’t last through a workday.

In my experience, most businesses care a lot about stuff actually working well and being reliable. If your phone dies that quick, you’re not going to use it for work, no matter how many cool features it has. Plus, back in the 90s, most people still weren’t ready for all-in-one technology. So while the IBM Simon was a great idea, it was just a bit too early. Sometimes being first doesn't mean you win — it just means you get all the problems before anyone else. So yeah, it didn’t change the business world like it could've.
