So the way I’ve heard it, the staff and logistics folks working for Dangote somehow found a way to sneak millions of liters of diesel away while they were supposed to be delivering it to Dangote’s plants. They basically used regular routines, pretending everything was normal, and took advantage of some weak internal controls—like not enough checks or maybe bad tracking systems.
One of my cousins works in supply chain, and he always jokes that if people really want to steal, they’ll figure out clever ways. Looks like some staff and drivers just either sold off the diesel along the way or maybe filled fake delivery logs. It took almost two years for anybody to notice because Dangote’s company trusted their employees and partners a bit too much, I guess. I think it’s wild how big companies sometimes forget to double-check everything, and this is proof that even top brands can get played right under their nose if they’re not careful.
