I've heard people blaming the naira's crazy changes on the Central Bank. Is it true? Are they making a big difference?

You might think the Central Bank has got some magic wand they wave to control the naira, but it's more like them trying to keep it from going haywire. So, here's how it really works.

The Nigerian Central Bank (CBN) really plays a big role. They're often jumping in with interventions to keep the currency stable. Like, they keep injecting dollars into the market - last time, they pumped in about $197.71 million to help stabilize things. These actions bump up the naira's supply and try to keep other currencies from getting too strong.

But it's not a one-time fix. Every time the CBN makes a move, it kinda helps but doesn't totally fix the situation forever. Some days it works, other days it doesn't. Recently, the naira's been yo-yoing from 1599 to 1636 against the dollar. So, the Central Bank is vital, but it can't make the naira behave all the time, ya know?

It reminds me of my younger sibling who needs a lot of guidance but can't always be tamed! 😊
