Honestly, Tyler Perry's Straw is getting a lot of attention because it's not just another one of his usual dramas. I've seen people saying it's way more intense, with Taraji P. Henson playing a single mom who just can't catch a break. The stuff she goes through in one day is crazy, like getting close to being homeless, her kid's in trouble at school, then the whole thing blows up at her job and at a bank. A lot of fans are comparing it to his older stuff but saying this one feels more real, especially since it talks about mental health and how people get pushed to their limits. I think what stands out most for me was how the movie made you actually feel the stress and sadness Janiyah was going through, which is kinda different from Perry's more predictable movies. People are also arguing online about how over-the-top it is, but I like that it actually made me feel something, you know? And the whole ending... man, it was wild and left me thinking for days. It's messy but real, which is kinda why everyone can't stop talking about it. If you like movies that leave you a little shook, this one's worth the hype.
