Honestly people are talking about Sean Duffy right now because he brought up something most politicians ignore: how sketchy things can get at small airports. After hearing about the deadly air crash in Marana, Duffy was pretty blunt in saying that rural airports just don’t have enough air traffic staff or good towers like the big city ones do. I totally get where he’s coming from—like, imagine relying only on looking out the window to make sure you don’t hit another plane! That’s basically what pilots have to do at these places because they don’t have fancy radar or people watching out for them. In my opinion, it’s wild that we’re still stuck with ancient gear in some airports. Duffy said it could literally take hundreds of years to fix every airport in the US if we keep going this slow. I remember reading that most government stuff drags on forever, so it really stands out when someone actually calls it out, you know? I think that’s why his ideas are such a hot topic: he’s saying what a lot of flyers, especially in small towns, have probably worried about but never heard anyone say. If we want anyone to feel safe flying everywhere, this feels like something that needs way more attention.
