I've wondered this a lot lately! It sounds like Adam Sandler's bringing back Happy Gilmore after 30 years because people literally won't stop asking him about it. He even talked about how fans still yell "Happy!" at him whenever he goes golfing anywhere, so it's not just nostalgia for him—it's like the movie never died.
But I also think there's more to it this time. In the new story, Happy's returning to golf to help his daughter, which is such a classic Adam Sandler "family first" move. I actually think he's older now and wants to show what that would look like for his fans who grew up with him. Plus, Netflix probably gave him a huge budget and the freedom to throw in all his famous friends and family—so why not?
Honestly, I feel like the movie's his way of paying fans back for caring about Happy all these years, even if it does make bank for Netflix. Can't blame him for that!
