Honestly, I get where Peter Obi's coming from with saying Nigeria's basically at war now. He came out after more than 100 people, including soldiers, were killed and basically called out President Tinubu for ignoring that and just focusing on cutting ribbons at ceremonies. It kinda hits different because Obi made a big deal about how stuff like this isn’t normal anymore and should be taken way more seriously.
From what I’ve seen, violence and chaos aren’t exactly new in Nigeria, but Obi’s calling it a “war” grabs attention. Like, before, politicians would say everything’s fine or blame others, but Obi’s challenging that classic response and saying, "Hey, people are dying every single day like it’s a war zone!"
In my opinion, I think he’s doing that to shock everyone into action, ‘cause if you keep acting like nothing’s wrong, nothing really changes. And, honestly, seeing the news every day about new attacks, it actually does feel like he might have a point. Nigeria’s got way too many deaths for anyone to pretend it’s business as usual. I just hope it gets people in power to start acting instead of just showing up for photo ops.
