I really think Jesutega Onokpasa’s death is going to leave a big hole in political conversations, especially for the APC. Like, even if you didn’t vibe with his opinions, he always got you thinking or arguing about what matters. Imagine watching a big soccer game and suddenly your favorite loud player isn’t there—things just feel different and the matches aren’t as wild anymore.
For the APC, it might mean less blunt, honest feedback. Jesutega used to call them out—when he was for them, he hyped them up, but when he got disappointed, he blasted them openly. That kind of honesty keeps everyone on their toes, you know? Now, other people might be scared to say what they really think, since not everyone’s as bold.
As for overall debates, I feel things might get a bit boring or too filtered for a while. He made politics feel like something normal people could talk about. Everyone’s been sharing tributes online, so it’s clear people already miss his energy. Nigerian politics just lost one of its loudest, realest voices.
