I want to believe this grant will change things, but I’m not totally sure it will fix the jobs problem for young people by itself. Here’s the thing: giving kids money to study technical stuff will definitely help more people pick up practical skills, and that’s a win. I’ve seen lots of guys in my area who dropped out of school because they couldn’t pay fees, but they’re super interested in things like welding and fixing electronics. With the N45k monthly grant, they can actually go to class and not stress about lunch and transport.
But the big catch is what happens after graduation. If there are no jobs or businesses looking for skilled workers, then all that training might not lead to an actual career. Plus, sometimes companies want years of experience or have crazy rules for hiring, so new graduates get stuck waiting.
Also, in some places, corruption or school mismanagement could mess up how the money is given out, based on what my uncle told me about government programs in the past. So, while the grant is a way better deal than before, I think there needs to be real support for jobs and small businesses too. Otherwise, it might just help with school bills, not with real jobs afterwards.
