Yeah, the Governor of Akwa Ibom just left the PDP for APC, and honestly, it feels like a huge thing in our local politics right now. He said he joined APC because he likes President Tinubu’s economic reforms, especially the removal of petrol subsidy, which brought more money to states like Akwa Ibom. That actually means there’s cash for development, which everybody wants. But, in my opinion, it’s not just about Tinubu’s reforms. Politicians always talk about working for the people, but sometimes it’s more about staying close to power at the center. If the President and most of the big shots are in APC, then it makes sense for him to join up to get more support for Akwa Ibom.
I remember people saying things like this help states to get more attention from Abuja, but doesn’t it feel like party loyalty means a lot less now? Plus, he told all his commissioners to join him or quit, which is kinda controlling if you ask me. Either way, this move is probably shaking things up for Akwa Ibom, and yeah, it could mean more projects, but it might also make some people mad who supported him as a PDP guy. Politics around here is wild!
