So yeah, I saw the news about the explosion near the Mogadishu Barracks in Abuja and honestly, it freaked me out for a second. The Nigerian Army said it was an IED (which is basically a homemade bomb) and it was apparently carried by a suicide bomber near a bus stop. One person died, who they think was the bomber, and there was one injury. The army and police handled the whole thing fast, blocked off the area, and started looking for clues right away.

Even though the army keeps saying it's all under control and there's no cause for alarm, I don’t blame anyone who feels a little on edge. It's the capital city, after all. But stuff like this doesn't happen every day in Abuja like it does in some parts of the country. I've got friends who live there and they're still moving around, but everyone’s definitely being more careful now. I think authorities are trying their best, but yeah, living in Nigeria always comes with a little danger. It sucks, but life goes on. Just gotta stay extra alert and report weird stuff, you know?
