Honestly, I've asked myself the same thing every time a new Tyler Perry movie drops. Like, is he just reusing the same old Madea jokes we've seen for 20 years, or is there anything actually new going on? I’ve watched almost every Madea movie since Diary of a Mad Black Woman, and sometimes it feels like I know exactly when Madea's gonna pull out her sass or hit someone with her purse. But then again, there’s this thing where the movies still crack people up and bring families together.

The new one, Madea’s Destination Wedding on Netflix, actually looks like it's mixing things up by putting the whole gang in the Bahamas for wild wedding drama. I think that fish out of water vibe could bring some new laughs. But yeah, a lot of the themes are old-school: family craziness, dramatic secrets, and Madea being, well, Madea. People keep watching, though, so maybe the formula still works for fans even if critics say it gets repetitive. I guess as long as it makes people laugh and feel seen, there's still a place for it. If you want something totally new, maybe try Tyler Perry’s Straw, which is way more serious and not a Madea story at all.
