From what I've seen, people are getting really nervous about being public or running businesses in Zapopan now that Valeria Marquez was killed doing a livestream. It's not just about her, but about everyone who’s out here posting stuff online or opening stores—especially women. I have a friend whose cousin does lashes in Jalisco, and she told me her family is asking her to stop posting live videos or sharing her location, just in case.

I totally get it. Valeria’s death was such a public thing, and it shows that having a business or being an influencer isn’t as safe as people thought. It’s not only about being famous either—it’s about standing out or showing your daily life. There are a lot of reports where criminals use social media to track or target people. Makes me think twice every time I post about my own life.

If I were starting anything in Zapopan right now, I’d be super cautious and keep my info private. It’s sad though, because it feels like people should be able to live and run businesses without being scared. It definitely changed how locals see safety and being public online.
