So a lot of people want Israel banned from Eurovision this year mainly because of the war in Gaza. They’re saying that if Russia got kicked out for the Ukraine war, then Israel should be treated the same because of all the violence and thousands of deaths. I even saw that more than 70 former Eurovision contestants signed a letter asking for Israel and their TV broadcaster to get banned. Fans were protesting hard, waving Palestinian flags and wearing Boycott Israel shirts everywhere. Honestly, I get why people feel strongly about it, but Eurovision’s organizers keep saying they want to be neutral and just focus on music, not politics. Still, it’s hard for people to separate the two when something huge is happening in the world, you know? I think everyone has a right to their opinion, but I also felt bad for the artists who just wanted to perform and got caught up in all this stuff.
