Okay so here's what everyone is freaking out about with the Superman trailer: the villain is totally new. The Hammer of Boravia isn’t even from the comics, which is kinda wild because DC almost always reuses old baddies everyone knows. I guess director James Gunn wanted to shake things up, and honestly, I think it's a bold choice but it’s already splitting fans. Some people are mad they didn’t just use a famous villain like Brainiac or Zod, and they feel like it’s risky to mess with Superman’s history. I get that, but I also think bringing in someone new might keep things from feeling stale like all the other superhero movies lately.

I remember when I saw the teaser, I thought, "Whoa, this guy looks serious with the laser eyes and all," but I still wonder if this is some plot twist and the Hammer is actually Ultraman like people are guessing. Either way, with comics movies, you kind of expect the same villains all the time, so this is at least something different. I say let’s give it a shot! Fresh blood in superhero movies could be cool if they pull it off right.
