Honestly, a lot of people knew Choi Jung Woo mostly because of his role in City Hunter, which is kinda wild when you think about how much he did. I remember watching City Hunter with my older sister and she'd always point out how awesome he was as the trusty side character. I think it's because that show blew up everywhere, especially since Lee Min-ho and Park Min-young were huge at the time, so anyone who had a role in it got noticed right away.
But if you look at his career, Choi Jung Woo started acting way back in 1975, doing theater first, then voice acting, and later a ton of movies like Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. He was in so many popular dramas too—like Master's Sun and The Legend of the Blue Sea. Even so, City Hunter kind of became his "thing" in pop culture. It just shows how one hit role in a big series can make people remember you, even if you've done much more before and after. Honestly, I think that happens a lot with actors who work for decades—the big-name show just sticks.
If you haven't watched his other stuff, you're missing out! He's got that classic vibe that's kinda rare now.
