Honestly, I think when a high-profile politician like President Biden has a prostate cancer diagnosis, it always blows up politically because people use it as ammo for whatever side they’re on. I’ve seen so many news stories and arguments online that aren’t even about cancer—they’re just about whether he can still do the job, if he should run again, or blaming other parties for not funding enough cancer research.
I kinda wish people would remember that it’s a super personal health issue, but because he’s the president, nothing can just be private. It also doesn’t help that, like with Biden, the cancer diagnosis is aggressive and metastatic, which makes the news even more intense. And then there are debates about the government’s role in funding research, how politicians handle their own health, and if the public has a right to know about these medical details. It’s less about Biden and more about using his diagnosis to push some agenda, and trust me, it would probably be the same with any politician.
At the end of the day, I feel for anyone in the spotlight going through something so intense. Cancer sucks no matter what, and it just gets worse when it becomes political.
