I've been reading a lot about this and, honestly, it surprised me too. Saudi Arabia is making a huge push into AI, and that deal with Nvidia for 18,000 super-advanced AI chips really shows they want to catch up with the big tech countries. It’s like they're tired of only being known for oil and want to get in on stuff that actually runs the world now—like tech and data.
From what I’ve seen, their government is pouring a ton of cash into data centers and AI startups. I think they see it as a way to grab power in the new digital world, not just with energy. Plus, it probably helps the government in controlling its own people more, since AI means better surveillance and all that. Even though it sounds futuristic, I still wonder if it's really for progress or just so the leaders get even more control.
Someone I follow online even joked that soon we'll hear about a "Saudi version of ChatGPT." Who knows? Seems like they're betting big that AI and tech will keep them important in global politics. Pretty bold, if you ask me.
