Honestly, it's kinda wild to see big clubs like Manchester United flying out to places like Hong Kong for friendlies. From what I've seen, it's all about getting new fans and making money, not just the football. United had a pretty rough season, so they need some good PR and to keep the hype up, especially after missing out on Champions League football. I remember when other huge teams did tours in Asia and the stadiums were packed, even for games that don't matter for any league.
I've read that clubs earn a lot from ticket sales, sponsorship deals, and even selling merch in places like Hong Kong. Plus, it's a cool way for fans who'd never get to Old Trafford to actually see their heroes play live. In my opinion, it's smart for Man United to reach out globally, but I get why some people think it's just a cash grab and not about the real game. Either way, it brings some excitement to a city like Hong Kong, where top-tier teams don’t show up often. Wouldn't you want your team to come play in your hometown, even for a friendly? I think it’s awesome for the local fans! 😄
