Will giving out the Nigeria TVET monthly grant of N45k to students actually convince more young people to choose technical and vocational education over other career paths? What are some reasons students might still skip TVET even with the grant?

Honestly, I feel like giving students a monthly grant of N45k from the Nigeria TVET program is a big deal and could help a lot of people think more seriously about technical education. If I was in school and heard I could get that much every month just for attending classes, I'd definitely consider it, especially if money was tight at home.

But I think some students might still skip TVET, no matter how tempting the cash is. My cousin told me her friends still want university degrees because they think it gets more respect and leads to "bigger" jobs, even if it takes longer or doesn't always pay off fast. Some people’s parents also really want the regular university experience for their kids. Plus, in Nigeria, technical skills aren’t always hyped up in society and some folks might see it as less cool than other careers.

I think the grant is a smart step, though, especially for people who actually want to learn stuff like plumbing, electrical work, or mechanics but couldn't afford it before. Hopefully if more students join and get good jobs after, others will start to see TVET as a real opportunity, not just a backup plan.
