Yeah, so if you’re an international student or someone’s spouse in Canada, this rule change might actually make things easier for you. Like, if you have a study permit, you’re usually allowed to work off-campus or during school breaks already, but changing jobs could be tricky if you needed a new permit before. Now, with this new work permit rule change, as long as you put in your new application before your permit expires, you can just switch jobs right away instead of waiting for official approval.

I have a friend whose sister is studying in Toronto, and she’s had to wait around to start a new part-time gig once because of all the paperwork. This new rule could save people in her situation a bunch of time and stress.
