So, I've been keeping up with Saudi politics, and dang, Mohammed bin Salman, or MBS as they call him, got a crazy amount of power real fast. From what I've read, he kinda rose up by being super close to his dad, King Salman. Since he became crown prince in 2017, MBS has made moves that some folks see as power plays.
Like, remember that big anti-corruption thing where he rounded up a bunch of powerful people? They called it a corruption crackdown, but some say it was more about taking control and getting rid of rivals. I mean, Prince al-Waleed bin Talal, one of the richest dudes in the world, was caught up in it!
But, what really struck me was his Vision 2030 thing — it's this huge plan to get Saudi Arabia off its oil dependency. By shaking up the country’s economy, he's kinda cementing his influence as a modernizer, even if some of his tactics are... let’s say, aggressive. Regardless of what people think of him, MBS is definitely the guy steering the ship right now.
