This is a question I had too! Like, why not just grab the person, right? But, here’s the thing: countries can’t just arrest people on someone else’s land. I learned that when someone is in the UAE but wanted in Nigeria, Nigeria has to first get the UAE’s permission to actually bring them back for trial. This is called extradition.
Every country has its own rules and rights, and a lot of people would freak out if other countries just came and arrested whoever they wanted inside their borders. That’s why extradition treaties and cooperation matter. From what I've watched, it's paperwork, legal back-and-forth, and sometimes even the suspect gets a lawyer to fight it.
Even if Interpol issues a request, it’s not like their team can just march in and take someone. It’s a lot about respecting each other's sovereignty. There are definitely examples where countries refuse to extradite, especially if they think the case is political or the suspect could face unfair treatment. So, going through extradition is about making sure the process is legal and everyone’s rights are (at least supposed to be) protected.
